COMPARISON

Best memorial apps in 2026: Custos vs GetMemorial vs MyKeeper.

I built Custos, so read this knowing that. I have tried to be fair. Everything in the table comes from each app's App Store listing or website, and I will correct anything that is out of date. The short version: Custos is the one that is completely free with nothing to unlock, works on iPhone and Android, and starts from the prayer card or obituary you already have.

THE SHORT VERSION

Custos

Best for families who have a prayer card or an obituary and want a free app on iPhone or Android.

Custos builds the memorial from what you already have. Scan the card, paste the obituary link, add up to four photos, mark the resting place, and add their card to Apple Wallet. No more paper keepsakes that are easily lost or damaged.

What it does not do: there are no virtual candles, no guestbook, and no livestreaming. Custos is built for keeping, not for hosting a service.

GetMemorial

Best for people who want a memorial page with photos, videos, and music, where others can light virtual candles and leave messages.

It is iPhone only, it has in-app purchases, and it is a new app with very few ratings so far.

MyKeeper

Best for families who want a public memorial website with unlimited photos and videos, a livestreamed service, and a physical QR plaque for the gravesite.

It is a well reviewed platform that has been around for over a decade, with a support team. Creating a page is free, and the upgrades, plaques, and concierge help cost money.

HOW TO CHOOSE

Pick the one that fits the moment.

If you are holding a prayer card or an obituary right now, start with Custos. It is free and it takes a minute.

If you want friends to light candles and leave messages on a page, look at GetMemorial.

If you are planning a service and want a livestream and a plaque, look at MyKeeper.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions people ask.

Which memorial app is completely free?

Custos. No ads, no subscriptions, and nothing to unlock. GetMemorial and MyKeeper are free to start, with paid upgrades.

Which memorial apps work on Android?

Custos is on Google Play. GetMemorial is iPhone only. MyKeeper is a website, so it works in any browser.

Can I move a memorial from another app to Custos?

Not automatically. But if you still have the prayer card or the obituary link, Custos can build the memorial from that in a few taps.

Why trust a comparison written by the Custos founder?

You should not have to. Every row comes from the apps’ own listings and sites, the date at the top tells you when I last checked, and I will correct anything you find wrong.
